The API 580-based RBI (inspection) activity produces critical maintenance information and inspection priorities (addressing the asset availability issue). RBI Assessment takes this process one step further by helping plant managers and operators to interpret the RBI findings in relation to:
- Equipment performance and throughput objectives
- Cost and time risk considerations
- Safety
- Reliability issues
- Environmental and other regulatory issues
- Risk management planning
- Maintenance level-of-service decisions
A typical RBI Assessment Project will include:
- Explicit development of definitions and objectives of the assessment
- Detailed review of RBI findings
- Establishment of performance measures for all assessment targets (above)
- Systematic evaluation of plant, operations and management practices relative to objectives and in terms of the performance measures
- Development of findings and recommendations, including:
- Identification of deficiencies and opportunities for improvement

Software Tools
Our customers for RBI Assessment services often avail themselves of our RBI products for inspection data management and criticality analysis. These tools include a plant-level RBI program and framework and database management system called RMS software or Signal RBI™, and asset-specific modules for fired heaters and steam reformers, that can be integrated with other plant-level or enterprise-level RBI systems.
