Quest has developed a suite of specialized advanced measurement tools and systems for the refining, chemical and gas processing, power generation, and energy transportation industries, with a focus on high temperature plant. Our laboratories are actively developing new systems to meet customer needs, and performing upgrades on our existing systems to make them faster, more accurate, and compatible with more equipment types and dimensions.
A selection of our specialty NDT tools:
- Portable advanced UT (FTIS™). Designed for inspection of furnace tubes.
- Portable laser profilometry of tubes, piping, vessels and tanks (LOTIS®). Used to detect deformation or other irregularities in the interior of tubes and piping.
- Portable phased array UT. Used primarily for welds in pressure equipment such as steam drums, high energy piping, headers, reactor vessels, coke drums, etc.
- Portable magneto-optical imaging (MOI). Used for detection of cracks and other surface degradation on the exterior of pipe and vessels. An extremely efficient alternative to penetrant testing.
- Portable induction thermography system (ITS). Designed for detection of near surface anomalies.
- Semi-portable infrared thermography (furnace cameras), used for heater performance monitoring.
- Portable overhead transmission line conductor condition assessment tool (LineCrawler™). Detects physical damage and corrosion in transmission conductor.
- Portable carburization detection tool. Records magnetic response in the metal of high energy piping and pressure vessels; when data are correlated with reference information, is used to identify the locations where carburization is occurring on the interior of pipe and vessels
- Advanced ultrasonic testing: not a specific tool, but rather a toolkit of measurement technology, laboratory methods and analytical protocols used to provide greater detail or more insightful interpretations of material properties and damage mechanisms than available through conventional NDT.
